  • How long does membership last, and how many cards can I send?

    Friday, 15 July 2011   admin

We currently offer a free lifetime membership option.

During the time of your membership you may send as many cards - within reason* - as you like, with no additional charge.

*We say "within reason" because you are not allowed to use our site for commercial purposes or to send unsolicited mail or "spam". One of the measures which we take to prevent this is to impose a limit on the number of cards that can be sent by a single member in any given period. However, the limit is quite high and anyone using the site for genuine personal correspondence is unlikely to encounter it.

  • When I send to multiple people will they see each other's email addresses?

    Friday, 15 July 2011   admin

No, when you send a card to multiple recipients, each recipient receives a different personalised link to the card and they cannot see other recipients names or email addresses.

  • I sent the card to the correct address but the recipient says it never arrived

    Friday, 15 July 2011   admin

If a recipient says that a card you sent was never delivered, the first thing to check is whether we received your request to send the card. You can check this by logging on to eCard Studio web site and clicking the CARD HISTORY option in the menu above. (Note you must log on first or this option will not be visible.)

If the card is listed as having been sent, then you can be sure that it has left our server. The next thing to check is whether you received a non-delivery report concerning that card. When a card (or any email) is sent, the responsibility for the delivery lies with the recipient's mailserver and if for any reason they are unable to deliver the mail, they will send a non-delivery report to the sender explaning why.

If you never received a non-delivery note, then it is almost certain that the card was in fact delivered to your recipient's mailbox. It is almost unheard of for a recipient's mailserver to refuse to deliver a card without sending a non-delivery notice back to the sender.

However, just because the card was delivered to the recipient's mailbox doesn't mean the recipient will have seen it! Many mail services include spam filtering facilities which will file suspect mail in a "quarantine" area, or even simply delete it.

Another possibility is that the e-mail address you entered was incorrect - but was actually the correct address of someone else altogether! That would explain why you did not receive a non-delivery notice.

If none of the above circumstances seem to explain the situation, and you've tried re-sending the card and still received no non-delivery reports, please contact us using our contact form. Please give as much detailed information as you can, including the email address of the person to whom you sent the card.

  • I sent the card to the correct address but I received a notice saying it could not be delivered

    Friday, 15 July 2011   admin

I sent the card to the correct address but I received a notice saying it could not be delivered We're sorry we were unable to deliver the card you requested.

Usually, this is because either the address you gave was incorrect, or there was some kind of spam filter or other obstruction which prevented delivery of our email.

Please understand that the non-delivery report which we sent you was generated by the recipient's mail service - not by our computers. So for example if you sent a card to xxxx@aol.com, then the non-delivery report would have come from AOL, not from us. All we can do is try to interpret the report and then forward it to you.

Therefore if the non-delivery report indicates that the address is incorrect, then it really is almost certainly incorrect: the recipient mailserver would have no reason to reject an address without good reason. So do please double-check the address - common mistakes include:

entering .net instead of .com at the end of the address (or vice-versa)
entering the letter O instead of the number zero, or vice-versa
entering the letter i or lower-case L instead of the number 1, or vice-versa
entering "www" at the beginning of the address - "www" is for websites, not email addresses!
If there is an error in the address you typed, and if you use our Address Book facility to store addresses of people you sent cards to, then please be sure to correct the address in the Address Book before re-sending a card. To do this, log on and then click Address Book in the menu.

Please do not ask us to re-send the card to another address. We cannot do this for you. However it is easy for you to re-send the card yourself: simply go to the Card History page in our website (you must log on first if you haven't already); then click Resend opposite the card in question.

If the non-delivery report indicated some other reason for the non-delivery, and you would like a more detailed explanation, please contact us by using our contact form. Be sure to quote the exact email address of the recipient and the reference number ("Our ref:") on the non-delivery report.
